Editor’s Letter – November

What sustains you? Whether its in the most basic sense of food and nutrition, or the more intangible nourishment we get from art, philosophy, relationships and self-identity, sustenance is a continuous theme throughout our lives – and this month, it’ll be the theme dominating Feminartsy too!

We’re kicking off with a Q&A with Ellyn Bicknell, one of ACT’s Jamie Oliver Food Revolution Ambassadors, and getting into the nitty gritty of nutrition and its impact on our wellbeing as a community.

We’ll also hear from Charlotte Bulbrook and Raphael Kabo, see gorgeous art from Erin Michelle, and get to know a number of other awesome people who are doing cool things in art, literature and community work.

Whilst this Editor’s Letter is a bit vague, be assured there’s plenty of exciting stuff happening in Feminartsy-land, including the addition of two more staff members to the team here.

Ruby Mahoney is joining us as Fiction Editor, and Hannah McCann is coming on board as social media manager. There will be bios, pics and contact details for these amazing ladies very soon, so keep an eye on the site.

Tomorrow, we’re having a cosy story-share evening at The Front, with Sophie Verass, Claire Capel-Stanley and Jamie Kirby speaking on the theme ‘Sustenance’. Music will be from Fossil Rabbit, and atmosphere provided by the wonderful Front Café. Head to the Facebook event for more details!

We’re raising funds for World Animal Protection through the cover charge for the evening – WPA do amazing work to support animals across the world, from working to end bear-bile farming in China, to teaching us how to be ethical tourists when it comes to animals, to working to better conditions for street animals the globe over. Check ‘em out online, and donate your spare change!

That’s all from me – make sure to drop me a line if you have thoughts, questions, feedback, or just want to say hi!
