Feminartsy has been a project of passion since the day I founded it in 2014. I wanted to bring a new platform to life that shared women’s stories, and harnessed the power of our experiences to enhance conversations around gender equality.
I have been incredibly proud of the way the website has grown, and the work of everyone involved, but with more commitments this year, I’ve decided to step back and open the door for someone with new energy and ideas to put their mark on Feminartsy.
The Editor-In-Chief will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the website. This includes:
- Working closely with the Founding Editor to set the editorial direction of the website
- Fundraising, applying for grant applications and sourcing other income streams
- Developing a team of volunteers to coordinate social media, events and other activities
- Editing and publishing content
The most important prerequisites for this role are a passion for storytelling and gender equality, and enough spare time.
Feminartsy has been run primarily by volunteers since its inception. This is an unpaid role, but grant funding has occasionally been able to provide a stipend, and this is something that is encouraged to be included in applications.
Experience editing would be awesome, as would experience with WordPress and strong networks, but I mostly just want to find someone with the enthusiasm and drive to take Feminartsy forward.
I know this isn’t an easy proposition – having given my time for the past four years to running the website, I can attest that it requires a lot of work, but it’s also extremely rewarding.
If this sounds like you next big thing, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with a few paragraphs on who you are, and where you would take Feminartsy if made Editor-In-Chief. Applications close 28 February 2019.
